Defend Human Rights Defenders
Take action to protect Afro-Colombian human rights defenders
Colombian human rights activists live in a troubling climate of death threats and judicial persecution for their human rights work. Apart from the targeted violence, in Colombia there is a government’s strategy to demobilize and divert human rights defenders and community organizers and leaders from their active defense against harmful policies, legislations and economic projects, by turning their human rights work and the social protest into criminal activities and making them the subject of repression. You can prevent political persecution and assassination of Afro-Colombian human rights defenders.
